SwingVision is a Must for Junior Tennis Families

“What new technology does is create new opportunities to do a job that customers want done.” – Tim O’Reilly

Over the last few months, I’ve had a few of the players I work with compete in events I was unable to attend. Not to worry. Swing Vision saved the day.

Using Swing Vision, the families recorded the matches on their iPhone, uploaded it via wifi with the press of a button, and I was able to watch the match, analyze it, and provide my thoughts BEFORE the player’s next match. This is incredible and a game changer for families. Here’s why:

High performance junior tennis has two major issues.

The first is cost. Tennis lessons, clinics, tournaments, and travel are expensive as it is. Getting a coach to spend all day at a tournament, and primarily focus on their child, will add a significant cost.

The second issue, is that most coaches don’t watch their players compete at tournaments. This causes a negative chain reaction:

  • Coaches unable to help players make mid-tournament adjustments.

  • Coaches unable to correct mistakes occurring in competition. They can only correct what they see in drills, which is not a full reflection of what goes on under real pressure.

  • This leads to an inefficient development plan with the same mistakes in competition continuing to occur.

  • And players being at a disadvantage against the few players that do have their coaches with them at all times.

Swing Vision helps solve all of this.

Using Swing Vision, a parent can now get their coach to watch their child play, helping them coach create an efficient development plan, that can directly improve the child’s level of play in competition. The coach can also provide feedback BEFORE their next match, helping their child improve throughout the tournament. All of this puts their child on a more level playing field, with their toughest competitors, WITHOUT having to pay for the coach to travel. That entire combination is a game changer.

Recording matches with gopro like cameras has existed for some time. That’s how I watch my players compete. However, it does come along with some logistical efforts to upload and send the matches. I usually don’t receive the matches until the tournament is over, which prevents me from providing feedback in the middle of a tournament, like a coach in person would be able to. It’s still extremely beneficial, but the player won’t see the benefits until the next tournament. (Considering most families don’t record any matches at all, and coaches don’t watch 99% of matches, my players are still at a huge advantage).

Using the Swing Vision app on their iPhone (and soon to be android as well), a family can record a match, tag their coach in it, connect to any wifi available, and with the touch of a button, begin to upload it to the Swing Vision cloud immediately. Once the upload is complete, the coach will have the match on their phone, tablet, or desktop. They can then provide feedback as if they were there at the tournament, but at a major cost savings to the family!

THIS. IS. HUGE.

My biggest frustration as a professional player was not being able to afford to travel with a coach. It was too expensive. I was already losing money traveling by myself. If I brought my coach, my debt would skyrocket. If I had Swing Vision then, I could have received feedback from my coach just like the other players who did have their coach present. Then, instead of asking me what I wanted to work on, they would have been able to tell me themselves, as they would have seen everything I did wrong during competition.

And I do believe that could have made a huge difference in my career.

If you’re a parent of a high performance player, a player yourself, or a coach, GET SWING VISION!

Did I mention that Swing Vision also provides useful stats, highlights, AND removes all the walking in between points? Yes, you can watch a 90 minute match in 20 minutes, or watch all your backhand unforced errors with the touch of a button, BEFORE the next match…...all for less than $15 a month.
